Champaign car crash sends one man to the hospital

On behalf of of Frederick & Hagle posted in Car Accidents on Monday, April 9, 2012.

An Illinois car crash sent one man to the hospital recently. The crash occurred about 10 minutes before 11 a.m. at an intersection in Champaign. As a result of the car crash, a 21-year-old man was transported to the hospital.

The 44-year-old driver who caused the crash was driving a truck when he apparently failed to stop at a red light and struck a Ford SUV heading north on the cross street. After hitting the SUV, the truck also struck a light pole and knocked it down. The truck that purportedly ran the red light was the property of Central Illinois Trucking.

The 21-year-old Ford Explorer driver sustained injuries in the crash and was taken to Carle Foundation Hospital. His injuries were not life-threatening, and the man was treated and released, though the nature and extent of his injuries were not described. Both drivers initially believed they had a green light, but witnesses stated the driver who caused the crash ignored a red light.

He has since been ticketed for disobeying a traffic control signal. Luckily, both drivers were able to escape this Illinois car crash without serious injury. However, the Ford driver was sent to the hospital to be treated for his injuries and will likely incur medical expenses. In many cases those injured seek continuing medical services for lingering aches and pains. As a result, he may be entitled to file a claim against the other driver for his negligence that caused the car crash. He may be able to receive financial compensation which could help take care of those bills and any wages he may lose as he recovers from his injuries.
