Fatal motorcycle accident occurs at Illinois intersection

On behalf of of Frederick & Hagle posted in Motorcycle Accidents on Wednesday, July 9, 2014.

Because motorcycles are difficult to see, individuals may think they have a clear right of way when they actually do not. As a result, a motorcycle accident could occur if another driver does not see the motorcycle approaching. Unfortunately, many accidents of this sort can result in serious injuries or fatalities because motorcyclists have very little protection when it comes to being involved in a collision with a larger vehicle.

A fatal motorcycle accident recently occurred in Illinois. It was reported that the driver of a van had allegedly stopped at a stop sign at an intersection, but apparently, when that driver continued traveling east, he collided with a motorcycle heading north. The motorcyclist was listed as being a 60-year-old male, and it was also noted that he was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.

Unfortunately, the motorcyclist suffered fatal injuries, and he was declared dead on site. The driver of the van and his passengers were not injured in the event. At this time, the driver of the van has been cited for failure to yield at an intersection. An investigation into the incident is ongoing.

A fatal motorcycle accident can leave many people feeling the difficulties that follow such an event. Loved ones of the victim may face emotional turmoil due to their loss, and they may also deal with the financial burdens associated with damages incurred as a result of the accident. If they would like to explore the option, a wrongful death claim could potentially suit their situation. By filing a claim, they would be able to open a civil case in order to pursue compensation for damages permitted in Illinois.
