Man suffers serious injuries in Illinois pedestrian accident

On behalf of Jeffrey Frederick of Frederick & Hagle posted in Pedestrian Accidents on Wednesday, October 22, 2014.

Being a pedestrian on a busy street can put an individual at risk of being hurt due to passing vehicles. If an individual is hit by a car, serious injuries are likely to occur. Hopefully, the driver involved would stop and render aid, and if not, that driver could face charges for being involved in a hit-and-run accident.

A similar situation recently took place in Illinois that led to a pedestrian being hospitalized. It was reported that a vehicle ran a red light and struck a 20-year-old man. Another vehicle collided with the first vehicle, but the first vehicle did not remain at the scene. Reports also stated that the driver of the first vehicle parked down the road and came back to the scene, but he did not stay.

The pedestrian was considered to be in critical condition as there was bleeding on his brain. The driver of the second vehicle was noted as having suffered minor injuries. Though the driver of the first vehicle left the scene, he was taken into custody hours after the event. At this time, he is facing a felony charge for the hit-and-run and two misdemeanor charges.

The victim’s loved ones are likely hoping that the young man recovers from his serious injuries. Bleeding on the brain could lead to the man needing an extended hospital stay, which could result in a financial strain being added to the already stressful situation. To combat such a burden, the man may want to consider filing a personal injury claim against the driver deemed at fault in order to possibly obtain compensation that could be put toward medical expenses and covering other damages resulting from the Illinois accident.
