Car accident in Illinois causes serious, fatal injuries

On behalf of of Frederick & Hagle posted in Car Accidents on Wednesday, December 31, 2014.

Though Christmas day was filled with much joy for many people, it unfortunately did not prevent accidents from happening on the roadway. Christmas and other holidays are notorious times for heavy traffic as relatives travel to the homes of other family members. As a result, there is also a high risk for individuals to be involved in a car accident, and unfortunately, even during the holidays, those accidents can prove fatal.

A crash that occurred on Christmas day in Illinois led to the deaths of two people. It was reported that a 91-year-old and a 93-year-old were occupants in a vehicle that was involved in a collision with another vehicle. Details on how the accident actually took place were not available in the report.

The individuals in their 90s unfortunately suffered fatal injuries in the crash. They were transported from the scene but were declared dead at a hospital. Three other individuals were seriously injured in the wreck, two of whom are still considered to be critical and the third stable. It was not clear which vehicle the injured parties may have been in. The crash continues to be investigated.

As the authorities gather additional information from their examination of the Illinois car accident, they will likely determine who may have been at fault. Because multiple parties were seriously or fatally injured in the crash, there is a high chance that a civil case could be filed. The conclusions of the investigation will allow those who were injured and the surviving family of the decedents to determine whether personal injury or wrongful death claims may be appropriate.
