Man killed in Illinois hit-and-run, family seeks answers

On behalf of Jeffrey Frederick of Frederick & Hagle posted in Pedestrian Accidents on Wednesday, April 22, 2015.

If a person is involved in an accident, he or she likely knows that the correct action would be to remain on the scene of the accident. Unfortunately, not all drivers follow through with the correct procedure. A hit-and-run accident is a situation that no one wishes to be the victim of, and sadly, many victims may suffer fatal injuries of such an incident. Victims may also go extended time without help that could have potentially saved them.

An accident in Illinois was recently reported in which a body was found on the side of a roadway. The victim was found at approximately 7:45 a.m., though it was not mentioned in the report who found him or how authorities were informed. The victim was a 25-year-old male.

It was mentioned that authorities have located a vehicle that they believe was involved in the fatal hit-and-run, but at the time of the report, the driver of that vehicle had not been apprehended. Family members are hoping to find out why the victim was on that stretch of roadway and why the driver of the vehicle did not remain on the scene. An investigation into the incident is open.

Now that a vehicle has been located, authorities are one step closer to taking the driver into custody. Once the driver is found, the family of the victim may wish to pursue compensation for their loss, emotional trauma and other damages resulting from the hit-and-run accident. A wrongful death claim filed in Illinois may be able to help them move forward with legal action.
