Motorcycle accident claims life in Illinois

As the weather beings to warm in many parts of the country, motorcyclists may begin riding more frequently. As a result, there may be an increase in the risk of a motorcycle accident taking place. Many drivers may not be in the habit of double-checking for motorcyclists, and the small vehicles could be overlooked. In such situations, a vehicle could pull into the path of a motorcycle and a collision could be imminent.
An accident between a car and a motorcycle recently took place in Illinois. It was reported that a 25-year-old man was riding a motorcycle north when a vehicle that was traveling south attempted to make a left turn. The turn brought the vehicle into the path of the northbound motorcyclist, and a collision occurred.
The motorcyclist suffered severe injuries to his head and was transported to an area hospital. Regrettably, he did not survive those injuries and was pronounced dead. The driver of the other vehicle did not suffer any injuries. It was noted that she was 16 years old. It is unclear whether any charges have been filed, but the investigation into the crash is continuing.
Because the driver of the turning vehicle is a minor, it is possible that the vehicle she was driving did not belong to her. As a result, the owners of the vehicle could potentially be held financially liable regarding the fatal motorcycle accident. In these circumstances, family members of the accident victim may wish to file a wrongful death claim against the parties considered responsible. Taking such a step could help them work toward seeking compensation for damages permissible under Illinois law.
