Car accident claims life of Illinois driver

On behalf of of Frederick & Hagle posted in Car Accidents on Thursday, May 14, 2015.

When a vehicle crosses over into the opposite lanes of travel, there may be little that a driver can do to avoid that vehicle. Unfortunately, this situation could lead to a severe car accident that results in an individual or individuals being seriously or fatally injured. Though many parties may wish to be hopeful when to comes to many car accidents, harrowing outcomes are common results.

A recent accident in Illinois sadly resulted in the death of one individual. It was reported that a man was driving a pickup truck when he was hit head-on by another vehicle. The other vehicle was traveling north and had failed to remain in the proper lane and crossed into oncoming southbound traffic. The driver of the truck was 74 years old, and the driver of the car was 88 years old.

The driver of the pickup truck regrettably died at the scene of the accident. The driver of the car was considered to be in critical condition and was transported from the scene. At the time of the report, that individual was considered stable. Authorities are continuing to investigate the event to determine what factors may have contributed.

When a car accident results in the death of an individual, the victim’s family may have legal options that they could consider. Filing a wrongful death claim against the driver considered at fault could lead to family members pursuing compensation. Successful claims could lead to the entry of a monetary judgment for funeral expenses, emotional losses and other damages allowable under Illinois law.
