Car accident claims pair of lives in Illinois

When a single-car accident takes place, the resulting damage can have harrowing results. Depending on the circumstances of a car accident, individuals inside the vehicle can become injured and potentially even lose their lives. Sadly, many such events could potentially have been prevented if drivers had not taken certain actions that contributed to the accidents taking place.

It was recently reported that an Illinois accident occurred after a driver tried to evade police. Reports stated that an officer began following a vehicle after the officer noticed the car speeding. The driver of the vehicle then traveled through a residential area before veering off the roadway and colliding with a tree and a pole. There were at least three individuals in the vehicle at the time of the crash.

Two passengers in the vehicle, who were described as juveniles, suffered fatal injuries. One individual was deceased upon arrival at the hospital, and the second succumbed to injuries later. The 22-year-old male driver was apprehended after being treated for minor injuries. Authorities believe that alcohol may have played a role in the incident, and it was also noted that the vehicle being driven had been reported stolen.

Aside from the criminal aspect of the Illinois car accident, the driver of the vehicle could also potentially face civil action from the families of the deceased individuals. If they wish to do so, those family members may want to determine whether filing wrongful death claims may be a step they wish to take. Because serious damages can result from a fatal car accident, seeking compensation from the driver considered at fault may be a warranted path to follow.
