Illinois motorcycle accident victim in critical condition

On behalf of of Frederick & Hagle posted in Motorcycle Accidents on Thursday, June 25, 2015.

Understanding legal options can be helpful for situations in which a person may wish to seek compensation due to damages resulting from an accident. If an individual suffers injuries due to being a motorcycle accident victim, that person may have cause to file a personal injury claim against the person considered at fault. If the individual deemed responsible dies in such an accident, the injured party still has options.

It was recently reported that an accident in Illinois resulted in one death and injuries to two other parties. Reports indicated that a motorcycle carrying two individuals was traveling behind a car when the driver of the motorcycle attempted to pass the car. However, the vehicles were in a no passing zone at the time, and the car was attempting to make a left turn as the motorcycle was trying to pass. As a result, the two vehicles collided.

The passenger on the motorcycle was thrown and collided with the side of the car. She suffered serious injuries and was considered to be in critical condition. The driver of the motorcycle remained on the bike, but suffered fatal injuries. The driver of the car was also injured, though he is expected to survive those injuries.

Though the driver of the motorcycle was killed in the Illinois accident, legal action may still be taken against that individual’s estate if he is considered to have been at fault for the accident. The motorcycle accident victim who is in critical condition may need considerable care and time to recover from her injuries, and as a result, medical expenses could accumulate quickly. If she wishes to pursue a claim for those damages, she has the right to commence a personal injury claim.
