Uninsured driver causes deadly car accident in Illinois

On behalf of of Frederick & Hagle posted in Car Accidents on Friday, February 5, 2016.

When a serious crash takes place, innocent individuals could become unfortunate victims. A recent report stated that a three-vehicle car accident in Illinois involved 10 people. One 63-year-old man was driving an SUV, and two adults and four children were in the second vehicle involved. Three teenagers were reported as being in the third vehicle.

The incident occurred when the driver of the SUV crossed from the eastbound lane into the westbound lane. The two other vehicles were apparently traveling west when the SUV collided with them. The second vehicle had attempted to avoid the SUV but was unsuccessful. The SUV driver apparently did not have insurance for the vehicle he was operating, and as a result, he is facing a citation for that infraction in addition to a citation for improper lane usage.

A woman in the second vehicle suffered fatal injuries. She was reported as being 34 years old. The other adult in that vehicle and the four children were all apparently injured, but details regarding what types of injuries they may have suffered were not given. The teenagers in the third vehicle escaped the incident without injury.

Though the teens may consider themselves lucky, the family of the deceased victim and those individuals who were injured may be experiencing much turmoil. Due to the outcomes of the Illinois car accident, the surviving injured individuals may wish to consider their legal options. Filing personal injury and wrongful death claims could allow them to work toward gaining reparations for the damages resulting from the crash. Furthermore, they may wish to better understand how the SUV driver’s lack of insurance could come into play when seeking compensation.
