Illinois car accident kills traveler and wrong-way driver

It may seem inconceivable to some individuals that a driver could be traveling the wrong way on a road. As many areas are clearly marked and the flow of traffic should be an obvious indicator, other travelers may wonder how wrong-way accidents occur. Unfortunately, this type of car accident is relatively common, and many lives could be negatively impacted as a result of such an incident.
It was recently reported that a crash took place in Illinois under similar circumstances. The driver of the vehicle was traveling south in the northbound lanes when it collided with two additional automobiles. One of the vehicles involved was a taxi, but the driver was apparently not on duty at the time of the crash. Details about the second vehicle that was hit were not given.
The incident resulted in the wrong-way driver and the driver of the taxi suffering fatal injuries. The taxi driver was reported as being a 64-year-old man, and he was pronounced dead on site. The 21-year-old man driving the wrong way died at an area hospital. It was unclear whether the driver of the third vehicle suffered any injuries.
Losing a loved one so suddenly can be severely jarring for surviving family members. They may suffer unthinkable emotional turmoil on top of financial struggles, and as a result, they may wonder how they will cope in the aftermath of a fatal car accident. The family of the taxi driver killed in this crash may wish to consider filing a legal claim in hopes of seeking restitution for the challenges they face as well as other damages permissible under Illinois law.
