Railroad accident leaves 2 injured in Illinois

On behalf of Jeffrey Frederick of Frederick & Hagle posted in Train Accidents on Friday, April 1, 2016.

When individuals are involved in a train accident, it may be considered a miracle if they survive. However, a railroad accident can still cause substantial injuries to vehicle occupants, and as a result, those injured parties may have cause to seek compensation. It was recently reported that a similar incident took place in Illinois when a car was hit by an oncoming train.

According to reports, a car carrying a female driver and male passenger was traveling over a set of railroad tracks toward a factory. It was noted that one of the individuals apparently worked at the factory. However, the trip was not successful as the car was hit by a train at approximately 6:30 a.m. The train was reported as going about 25 mph at the time of the collision.

The impact pushed the car about 100 yards and resulted in both occupants suffering injuries. The extent of their injuries was not disclosed in the report, but it was mentioned that they are expected to survive. The crossing where the accident took place was reported as having warning signs, but it does not have gates.

The individuals involved in this railroad accident are undoubtedly thankful to have made it out with their lives. However, if they suffered serious injuries, they may still have a long road to recovery ahead of them. Because injuries may lead to financial struggles due to medical bills and loss of income from time away from work, the injured parties may wish to consider their legal options for seeking compensation. Filing personal injury claims against the parties considered liable for the incident may allow them to work toward restitution for damages permissible under Illinois law.
